The track and field program has produced seven state champions (including three state records) and 22 all-state athletes since 2005. There is a list of those athletes at the bottom of the page.

May 8th and 9th - The varsity boys finished 15th at the AHSAA State Championships at Gulf Shores, and the varsity girls finished 16th.  There are 64 6A high schools in the state of Alabama.  Kirby Robbins earned All-State honors by placing 2nd in discus with a throw of  114-5.5.  Philip Johnson earned All-State honors by placing 3rd in the 3200m with a time of 9:33.75.  Alexandria Phillips placed 6th in the shot put and 7th in the long jump.  The varsity boys 4 x 800m relay team placed 9th, and the varsity girls 4 x 400m relay team placed 10th.  

April 24th and 25th - The varsity girls placed 6th out of 17 6A high schools from the Birmingham and Tuscaloosa areas.  The varsity boys placed 8th.  The following athletes earned a chance to compete at the AHSAA State Championships in Gulf Shores by placing in the top six at Sectionals.  Kirby Robbins was Sectional Champion in discus with a throw of 113-0.  Alexandria Phillips placed 2nd in the long jump, 4th in the 100m, and 4th in the shot put.  Eden Williams placed 3rd in the 100m and 4th in the 200m.  The girls' 4 x 400m relay team (Eden Williams, Alex Phillips, Edrieh Williams, and Kirby Robbins) broke the school record with a 4:11.21.  Philip Johnson placed 3rd in the 3200m and 4th in the 1600m.  The boys' 4 x 800m relay team (Zach Been, Blake Lee, Cody Lee, Philip Johnson) placed 6th.  Houston Walker placed 5th in the shot put.

April 18th - The Hoover Relays was a great tune up for the Patriots.  Alexandria Phillips won the long jump with her best jump of the year.  The girls' 4 x 400m relay placed 3rd.  Also, Philip Johnson won the 1600m, and the varsity boys' 4 x 1600m (Philip, Blake Lee, Cody Lee, Zach Been) placed first.  The boys'  Distance Medley Relay (John Stevens, Philip Johnson, Blake Lee, and Zach Been) placed 2nd.

April 10th and 11th - Congratulations to the varsity boys and varsity girls for their performances at the Mountain Brook Invitational.  The varsity boys placed 9th, and the varsity girls placed 11th out of over 30 schools, including schools from Georgia and Tennessee.  Philip Johnson placed 2nd in the 3200m, and Houston Walker placed 3rd in the shot put to lead Homewood.  The 4 x 800m relay team also did well and placed 5th. Eden Williams broke the school record in both the 100m and 200m and placed 5th in the 100m.  Alex Phillips placed 3rd in the shot put, and Kirby Robbins placed 5th in the discus.

March 28th - The Homewood Invitational was big success, despite the weather delay in the morning.  Results are at www.alabamarunners.com.  Eden Williams led the varsity girls by placing 2nd in the 200m with a personal best of 26.21.  Philip Johnson won the 3200m for the third time this year.  

March 14th - It was a rainy day at Vestavia's King of the Mountain Invitational, but several Homewood athletes had exceptional performances.  Eden Williams ran well in the 200m and placed 3rd with a 26.84, and Kirby Robbins placed 2nd in the discus with a throw of 99-3.  Sophomore Aaron Ernest had his best performance of the year by winning the long jump with a jump of 21-5.  Philip Johnson led the distance runners by placing 2nd in the 1600m (4:26.48) and winning the 3200m (9:41).   Houston Walker was 3rd in the shot put with a throw of 44-1.

March 7th - The varsity girls and boys had a successful day at the Hoover Open.  The varsity girls placed 4th out of over 30 high schools.  Alexandria Phillips led the girls by placing 2nd in the the shot put and 3rd in the long jump.  Kirby Robbins placed 3rd in discus.  Emily Bedell, a 7th grader, placed 2nd in the 3200 and 4th in the 1600.  The varsity girls 4 x 100m ran for the first time this year and set a school record at 49.97 (Sydney Williams, Alex Phillips, Edrieh Williams, Eden Williams).  Philip Johnson led the boys by placing 2nd in the 3200m.

February 28th - The varsity track and field teams opened their season at the Oak Mountain Invitational.  Both the boys and girls had several successful performances.  Philip Johnson won the 3200m, Kirby Robbins won the discus, Eden Williams won the 100m, and Sydney Williams finished 2nd in the hurdles.  Both Philip and Kirby are ranked 1st in the entire state.
