ACCREDITATIONS:

GRADING SYSTEM:
The grading system at Homewood High School is based on a 4 point scale:
A = 4
B = 3
C = 2
D = 1
F = 0

Advanced Placement courses receive 1 additional quality point and Pre-AP courses receive .5 additional quality point.

The grading scale is as follows:
A = 90-100
 B = 80-89
 C = 70-79
 D = 60-69
 F = 0-59

GRADUATION REQUIREMENTS FOR STUDENTS WHO BEGAN NINTH GRADE BEFORE THE FALL OF 2013:


Regular Diploma Requirements: 24 credits including 4 English, 4 Math (must include Algebra I and geometry), 4 Science (must include biology and either physical science, chemistry, or physics), 4 Social Studies, ½ Fine Art, ½ Health Education, ½ Computer Applications, Physical Education, 5 ½ Electives.

Advanced Diploma Requirements: 25 credits including 4 English, 4 Math (must include Algebra I and geometry), 4 Science (must include biology and either physical science, chemistry, or physics), 4 Social Studies, 2 World Language, ½ Fine Art, ½ Health Education, ½ Computer Applications, Physical Education, 5 Electives.

GRADUATION REQUIREMENTS FOR STUDENTS WHO BEGAN NINTH GRADE DURING OR AFTER THE FALL OF 2013:


Regular Diploma Requirements: 24 credits including 4 English, 4 Math* (must include Algebra I, Geometry, Algebra II w/ Trig or Alg II w/o Trig or its equivalent), 4 Science (must include biology and a physical science), 4 Social Studies, ½ Health Education, Career Preparedness, 3 World Languages and/or arts education and/or CTE, LIFE (Personal Fitness), 2 ½ Electives.
*A minimum of 4 math courses must be taken in grades 9 – 12. 

Advanced Diploma Requirements:
To earn a Homewood High School Advanced Diploma, a student must take Algebra II with Trigonometry, two years of the same World Language, and earn one additional credit for a total of 25 credits. 

Seal of Distinction Requirements:
To receive a Seal of Distinction, students must earn Carnegie Unit credit for at least 3 Advanced Placement courses and complete the Advanced Placement exams associated with those courses. 

ADVANCED PLACEMENT PROGRAM:
Homewood High School offers 20 Advanced Placement Courses and 8 Pre-Advanced Placement Courses. In 2013, 256 students took 508 AP exams, 75% scored 3 or higher.
