    Homewood Families,

As we all continue to navigate through this challenging time, we hope that you all are staying safe and healthy as Covid-19 continues to progress in our city, state, and nation.

As a result of Gov. Kay Ivey’s state of emergency declaration last week, all public schools and daycares in Alabama are closed through Friday, April 3.  As our schools are scheduled to reopen on Monday, April 6, please know that this could change as information regarding Covid-19 develops in our state.

State Superintendent Dr. Eric Mackey and the education task force have been meeting to discuss the next steps for public schools after April 6. They are set to make a recommendation to Gov. Ivey by March 30.  As Homewood City Schools receives more information, we will share that with you via email and our website.

Please know that our leadership team and staff are continuing to prepare for eLearning should it become necessaryHCS is asking all parents to fill out the Preparation for eLearning - Device and Connectivity Form by the end of the day Monday, March 23, should eLearning need to take place.

Next week begins spring break for Homewood City Schools.  Although our schools are closed, please know we will remain in contact with our state and local public health agencies, the State Department of Education, and other local experts as new information becomes available for our schools.  During spring break, we hope that you enjoy quality time with your family reading books, watching movies, playing games, and spending time with the ones you love.

As spring break is a time for fun, please continue to practice social distancing as recommended by the department of health. We have posted resources on our website on how you can help to slow the spread of the virus and guidance for social distancing.
