Meet Foxie, Our School Facility Dog
This is Foxie, our school facility dog. She began her training with Service Dogs Alabama at her birth in February of 2018 and joined our Edgewood family in May of 2021. While Foxie loves children, belly rubs, and smelling everything, her number one responsibility is to provide unconditional love, acceptance, and attention to all of our students, faculty, and staff. Research indicates that dogs can impact student performance by reducing stress and increasing motivation, focus, and task persistence. Even the simple act of petting an animal can lower blood pressure and be life-enhancing. Foxie can be found in her ‘office’ in our school library or visiting students in classrooms, listening to stories the students read, the students write, and the students tell. She is here to share in our lives. Foxie’s handler is the school librarian, Fran Woodruff. Be sure to follow Foxie on Instagram! @edgewoodfoxie
