HCS Names Edgewood Elementary Assistant Principal
April 25, 2023 - Homewood City Schools is proud to announce Erin Klotz as Edgewood Elementary School’s Assistant Principal. Klotz will serve as the school’s new assistant principal alongside Ashely McCullars, the school’s assistant principal for instruction, starting July 1. She will assist in providing a climate of high expectations for staff and students by managing and maintaining student discipline and providing a safe, orderly environment that facilitates teaching and learning.
Klotz has worked in education for 16 years and is currently a teacher at Homewood Middle School where she serves on multiple leadership committees. As a member of the school’s Innovation and Leadership Team, she assists with budgeting, planning, and professional learning for HMS. She has also served as a new teacher mentor, assisted in the after school tutoring and monitoring program, and helped establish the district's learning targets. Throughout her career, Klotz has also had the opportunity to present to educators throughout the area on how to recognize the unique needs of all students.
In 2019, Klotz was named HMS’ Teacher of the Year and went on to represent the district as HCS’ Secondary Teacher of the Year. The following year, she was named a Teacher Impact Award winner by the HCS Foundation.
She earned her bachelor’s degree in education from Murray State University and was selected to participate in the HCS/Samford Administrative Cohort. Through this program, she earned her master’s in educational leadership. Klotz is also a National Board Certified Teacher.
