HCS Email Information
Homewood City Schools is continuing to have an issue with our email communication system being blacklisted, causing many of our email messages to be blocked or marked as spam. We apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused and want to ensure our families continue to receive important updates and information from Homewood City Schools.
To ensure that you receive important updates and information, we request that you add our email domain, [@homewood.k12.al.us], to your email account's allow list. Adding our email to this list will help ensure that our messages reach your inbox directly, without being marked as spam or blocked.
We understand that adding an email to the allow list may vary depending on the email provider you use. To assist you in this process, we have provided general instructions for some common email services below:
For Gmail users:
1. Open Gmail and navigate to your inbox.
2. Click the gear icon located in the top-right corner of the page and select "See all settings." 3. In the Settings menu, choose "Filters and Blocked Addresses."
4. Click "Create a new filter" and enter @homewood.k12.al.us, in the "From" field. 5. Click "Create filter" and ensure the box next to "Never send it to Spam" is checked. 6. Finally, click "Create filter" to save the changes.
For Outlook/Hotmail users:
1. Log in to your Outlook/Hotmail account and go to your inbox.
2. Click the gear icon in the top-right corner of the page and select "View all Outlook settings." 3. In the Settings menu, select "Junk email" from the left-hand panel.
4. Click on "Safe senders" and add our email domain, homewood.k12.al.us, in the provided field. 5. Click the "Add" button, then "Save" to confirm the changes.
