April 27, 2021 - The National Association of Music Merchants (NAMM) Foundation recognized 686 school districts that are among the Best Communities in the nation for music education. This is the 15th year Homewood has received this honor, and this year Homewood was only one of seven communities in the State of Alabama that was selected as one of the Best Communities for Music Education (BCME).
The award program recognizes outstanding efforts by teachers, administrators, parents, students and community leaders who have made music education part of a well-rounded education. Designations are made to districts and schools that demonstrate an exceptionally high commitment and access to music education.
Homewood City Schools has received this award in 2005, 2007, 2008, 2009, 2010, 2011, 2012, 2013, 2014, 2015, 2016, 2017, 2019, 2020, and 2021.
The NAMM Foundation is a nonprofit supported in part by the National Association of Music Merchants and its approximately 10,400 members around the world. The foundation advances active participation in music making across the lifespan by supporting scientific research, philanthropic giving, and public service programs.
